We will be doing our part next week for the school garden so please bring in a pair of wellies/old runners/old boots for next week!

Parents and guardians, you are invited to our school's art exhibition next Tuesday November 25th and Wednesday November 26th. The children's artwork has been framed and is priced very reasonably at €12 per picture (including a class photo). This will operate as a fundraiser for classroom resources. Grab your camera, family and friends and we will hope to see you all next week! (Your son received a note about this earlier in the week if you want to check any further details!)
A reminder that this Thursday November 13th is our last swimming session.
On Friday, we begin 6 sessions of tennis. (3 x November, 3 x January) Each session costs €2 with the last one free. If you wish to pay outright, please send the money in this week. Thank you. As a follow-up to the study of the novel 'Holes' written by Louis Sachar, we watched the movie today. What similarities and differences did you notice? (
Because we enjoyed this book so much, you might also be interested in reading the sequel "Small Steps"! Congratulations to Ben who won a certificate for his 'best start to the year' at our November assembly. Ben's handprint now features on the Wall of Fame! The focus for our next assembly is HANDWRITING so we can all aim to improve our handwriting by the next assembly in December!
Remember, the 3 Ps! Pencil, Paper, and Posture! 1. Pencil - make sure your pencil is pared (if you are using a pen, don't use an inky pen that will show through the other side of the page!) 2. Paper - the page should be slightly slanted and the hand you don't write with should hold the page/paper firmly on the table to stop it from moving 3. Posture - sitting up properly with feet flat on the ground Some other reminders: (source: http://kidshealth.org/kid/grow/school_stuff/handwriting.html#) Let the lines guide you! Lined paper is your friend! Those lines can help you create letters that are the right size and proportion. Proportion means that one thing is the right size compared with the other. So your lowercase "a" should be half the height of a capital "A.". Slow Down If your writing is hard to read or you erase a lot, try slowing down a little. Sometimes, going slower solves the problem. If you rush, it's hard to control where you stop and start your letters, and you end up making more mistakes. We have a new addition to our class! Welcome Kyle! A few of the class remember Kyle from Junior Infants! We had to say goodbye to Kristian who is currently on loan to a school in Dubai! Come back soon! |
