Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely summer! Please check back regularly for updates on useful websites that you can use at home, samples of our work, activities from the classroom and some photos! A few reminders for the start of the new school year:
Homework: should take 50-60 minutes each night. Usually follows the same format so that the boys are organised & know in advance what they have to do. Each night, they will have:
English & Irish spellings (required to complete Look Say Cover Write and Check in their spellings copy for this, as it is one of the best methods of learning spellings). Irish spellings will comprise of 1 seanfhocal/proverb and a phrase linked to the téama for that week. Most of the seanfhocails can be found in the image gallery tab at the top of this page.
Tables (to be completed in this order: multiplication 10, 5, 2, 4, 8, 3, 6, 9, 7 and then division in the same order)
Reading at least 15 minutes per night
Léigh sa Bhaile F a page per night (This is the Irish version of the Read at Home that the boys completed last year).
Maths - something from their Busy at Maths book
A piece of written work either:
English usually Monday - Wednesday(Reading Zone Monday/Tuesday, Reasons to Write usually Wednesday) or
Gaeilge written work - usually Thursdays
With their new Béal Beo Irish book,, there are CDs at the back that the boys can listen to at home to improve their Irish.
Websites such as http://www.theschoolhub.ie/sample.php are also encouraged to develop fluency at tables for Maths.
Please remember to check homework & sign the homework journal each day.
Dates for your diary:
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Karen Gerrard.
